ANIMAL LAW SUNSHINE COAST

We are the first firm in Australia
to create a specialised practice in animal law.

Animal law is a new and emerging area of law and concerns protecting the rights of animals, assisting owners with issues regarding their pets and taking action against those who have mistreated and harmed animals.

CNG Law recognise the sentience of animals, the importance of their companionship, and advocate the promotion of their welfare and rights.

 

Our goal is to engage with civil law to provide an opportunity of justice for animals, particularly we are able to assist you with:

  • Harmed and abused animals

  • Wrongful death and negligence 

  • Negligence and/or malpractice

  • Body corporate exclusions

  • Dangerous dog cases

  • Family law - companion animals

  • Estate planning (for pets)

CNG Law is also pleased to have Dr Steven White as a Consultant for the firm. 

 

Dr Steven White is a lecturer at Griffith Law School, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. He teaches and researches in the areas of animal law and property law. Steven is a graduate of Griffith Law School (LLB (First Class Hons)) and holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Melbourne. Before joining the staff at Griffith Law School, Steven worked as a solicitor with the firm King & Wood Mallesons, as a judges’ associate on the Queensland Court of Appeal, and as an adviser to a federal senator. 

 

Steven has published widely in the field of animal law, including edited collections and in leading Australian law reviews. His most recent book is a collection co-edited with Professor Deborah Cao, Animal Law and Welfare: International Perspectives (Springer International, 2016). Steven recently completed a PhD addressing standards and standard-setting for the protection of companion and farm animals in Queensland, Australia. Steven is currently writing a book focusing on national, transnational and international approaches to farm animal protection standards.
